Test-driving a DSLR

I have this dilemma -- I really, really want a DSLR but it has been over 8 years since I've used a SLR at all, and I am not really sure which DSLR I'd want to get in the first place. Thankfully I have generous friends who let me test-drive theirs--here's me trying out the Canon Rebel XT with a 85mm lens (portrait lens).
